WOW. BLESSED.
I guess it’s time!! I will do a little review of how this week has been first. It’s been a good week. It’s been a crazy one, that’s for sure!

We went to the temple with my group, and it was just so good. Incredible. And then we went and got some souvenirs. And then we went to President’s house where they cooked us a full blown American dinner, cheese hamburgers, and they were SO good! We have had last interviews, bore our last testimonies at zone conference, and it’s just closing time.

My new replacement has come in, Elder Parra from Utah. He is a homie and going to be a great pensionista. I am just teaching him the ropes till I leave!

I dropped Elder Brown off at the airport, that was crazy! We came to Chile together and he is now home! It was bittersweet, really weird, but also really good! Man. It is all just kind of blowing my mind that I am leaving!

We have zone conferences every day until Saturday and yeah, Monday we all just chill in the office and wait till our flight!

It’s been a time of a lot of reflection, a lot of meditating. And I feel really good about everything.
It’s just been a very, very good time. I am just blessed. Super blessed to have served this mission. To have met these people, to have served them and given them my all. I feel at peace and just with gratitude. My heart is full of joy and pain at the same time, kind of the weirdest feelings ever.

I just can’t believe its ending! I am soo grateful for this. I really want to bear my testimony over so many things, but I literally cannot put into words all that I have learned and experienced here for the past 2 years. Also, I just feel so mixed, haha, 13 year-old girl Elder Carney, it’s like an emotional rollercoaster!

Well I just love these people, it kind of pains me to think about saying goodbye to a lot of them, because I truly have loved them. I AM SO BLESSED and grateful, that’s all I can say. And grateful for Jesus Christ especially.

WELL FAMILY, SEE YOU NEXT WEEK!!! *so weird to say!

This is Elder Carney, for his last time, signing out. PEACE.

Elder Carney

This is his group who are all leaving to go home this week, and his Mission Pres. & wife, Pres. & Sis. Gwilliams

EL FIN SE ACERCA
Hello family and friends!!

What a crazy fast week. I honestly have no idea all that has happened. But I have a few bullet points listed.

Wow, sooooo this is kind of weird. I am doing my goodbyes to some people today, and wow. I don't know ow I feel about life! I am tired, sad, happy, at peace, emotional. Pretty much just like a 14 year old girl, not going to lie! Everyday is an emotional roller coaster, but I am just happy! Happy to be here!
  • A house of hermanas,(sister missionaries) an apartment flooded and went down 3 stories to other apartments...that was fun.
  • We went to Johnny rockets when we were in downtown Santiago. We walked in and literally everyone (all the staff) yelled HELLO at us. That's a way to make an entrance.
  • At the centro. I love it, and hate it. Here is why. The people, look SO good, looks holy crap, put together, just beautiful people! Yet I also hate it, because I look like crap! Haha its like being at BYU all over again, I am just in my shorts and hoodie #thuglife
  • Funny experience: we were in a store the other day, and these people come up to us and ask us where we find these clothes. They thought we worked their #itstheplaque that actually has happened quit a few times here.
  • my comp is getting surgery on his knee tomorrow, just a scope surgery but still pray for him! All will be well
  • My replacement in the office should be coming this week, so I will be training him how to do my job and all that, that will be fun!
Honestly, I have no idea what else happened! I am so sorry! I do the same thing in the office haha its always an adventure, but I guess its not that cool to you all!

I have done some goodbyes today, tonight I will be doing more. Its just such mixed emotions. I will explain more next week.

This week will be good, we are having our final trip to the temple as a group with president tomorrow, then having an auto sufficiency class Friday, and yeah, I guess its just closing things! But, grateful to be here!

Have a beautiful week!!!

WOW What a week!

 Holy crap. Wowzzza. WOW.
>
> So Sandra went through the temple the other week, and wow. I can’t even describe the joy that I had. It was SO incredible, and literally the best feeling alive, just to see her, with such peace and just pure joy! It was THE coolest mission experience that I have ever had! If you want more details, Explained it to mom and little bit more. But literally So blessed, to have been sent to that area, my first area, and to be able to grow with her!
>
> SO office time. I have learned SO much in the last week, no clue where to start. So, I am pretty much just winging everything, and wow, it’s kind of crazy all that I have to do! And it’s been weird, because I have to call these like 40 and 50-year-old people/carpenters and send them around to places! I am a 21 year old gringo in charge of all these people and projects haha it’s a lot of confidence!
>
> But it’s been good! I am negotiating with people in a whole different language, that’s fun! reading housing contracts, etc. BUT, I am learning a ton and I got this!
>
> We had a fun little incident with the cars and all the system of that. Its freaking a ton of work! and cell phone plan for all the missionaries in the mission, chapel keys, house keys, house problems, missionaries in emergency room, the whole shebang! it’s been freaking crazy! I feel like an adult, yet I hate it too. I can’t do this real-world thing!
>
> It is hard to work all day in the office, then go out and work. BUT we are trying. It’s exhausting honestly. It never ends. I decided I can NEVER work at an office job. Nope! I would go crazy with stress!
>
> We are just killing this ward with kindness! SO, we are in the ward called Chena. A lot of them hate the office elders, the elder who work in the office because we are usually never there and they used to never leave! Well, no, we are just going HAM! we are passing by all these members and forcing ourselves to leave every day to visit! and honestly, its soooo tiring! it’s a lot to do! to work in the office from 8:30 am till 7, then leave, work, and then sometimes we have to drive and work till late night. It’s a ton! BUT we are doing it, and we are just loving the members and killing them with our love! changing this bad reputation! So, it’s been good!
>
> We had a nice little dinner the other night. We were tuck in the Centro, because we had to drop off our car to fix it, and so me and elder crane were starving, hadn't eaten lunch yet, and so we screwed it, and treated ourselves! We wont to Mamut! And yes, holy crap, I got a steak, and it was SOO RICO! so good! I miss food with flavor, good quality food. Wow.
>
> Anyway, not that much has been happening other than that! The days are going by soo fast! So fast its incredible! And it’s crazy, man, I just can’t believe this is kind of it! I NEVER would have thought I would get to this point, but I am happy about it! I have come so far, learned so many things, and just grateful for this time that I have had. I have changed and grown and I am just grateful. I am also excited to go home too, it just feels good right now. All is good right now :)
>
> I am just here! Just trucking along, doing my best! I love the gospel, love being a missionary, having Jesus Christ across my chest, being a representative of him and his church. Something has to be true, because if it weren’t, there wouldn't be so much opposition! SO, it’s true, because there is a LOT of opposition. All is well, god is good!

Where are the days going????

HELLO FAMILY AND FRIENDS (if I still have any)

So, this week has been a good one. Stressful, but good! Just getting work DONE! I got the hang of the whole office now, and it’s just been super interesting! learning a ton of life lessons and things every day!

here are some highlights!

  • Got to drive president’s car. WOW, it was a nice car. Big difference from a freaking huge bus that we have. Felt powerful, not going to lie. Beautiful car. I am in charge of all the cars, so we had to go get it revised and checked, something which I have never done before let alone in the states! So, I learned a lot there! Kinda glad I never have to do it again either!
  • Felipe and Jesus got baptized! We were teaching them in our old ward, departamental in san Miguel! It was so good going back and seeing them, so happy for them! they are from Columbia and Venezuela and both of them have pretty crazy stories! It was just a solid baptism! Just trusting in the ward to let them in and help them out
  •
  • My suit is really dirty and I love it, because it makes me feel like an old tired missionary, in which I am. Don’t worry, not bringing it home
Cool thing: The counselor of the relief society general presidency was here, along with President Clayton, Pres. of the Quorum of the 70. We have classes for Haitians, because they are trying to learn Spanish. Well, a Ton of Haitians, and we have a whole program and everything called huddle. We split in groups and I am a teacher for one of them, it’s like interactive learning. And she came to my group and after they both complimented me a lot and said I was a really great teacher. So that was really nice of them, made me feel good! Then Sister Clayton, she just looked at me and told me that I have such a bright light in me, and to tell me mom to be proud and for her to know that she is a great mother. That was really nice of her to say, made me feel great! I hadn’t received a compliment in a long time, I really needed that! So, there you go mom, you are the best :)

Here are some quotes that I really love. They are great!!

He wants to change more than just our behaviors He wants to change our very natures. He wants to change our hearts.

that the key to it all. his intention for us, is to come closer to his son, Jesus Christ, and be changed. Not just for a week or two, but forever. We cannot even fathom our divine potential, but he knows! and all he wants us to do, is try! just let him in, and let his power change us. I am not talking about some weird freak power, but a beautiful, quiet, peaceful power and surety of things. That is what he brings, that is the change. A change of heart, of character.

And I like that. That we can change. We can grow, we can do it both ways, for the better or the worse. But it’s up to us to choose!

I love you all, have a wonderful week!!

COMO ESTAI CHURRISOS???

This week has been a good one. Man, just super interesting. So here is the rundown, and yes, I will be doing bullet points, it just is so much better!

  • A guy in our English class called me a communist because I am left handed. That was a new name I haven’t been called while here, I usually get called cuss words in Spanish or English, but haven’t gotten that one until now! So, I am a communist apparently! It was funny, just laughed it off
  • In our English class, man I love teaching. I just have fun with it! And we did a Christmas English class, and so of course I taught them some ELF quotes and of course we sang Christmas songs!
  • We had to go buy supplies for the mission, and we have to go outside of our mission because our mission doesn’t have all the things we need, and so of course we hit up Starbucks, and yess I felt like a white girl, and yess I did enjoy it thoroughly
  • We had a reunion for my group, all the people who are leaving this change. SO, it was cool to see everyone and just kind of crazy how we got this far, and how chill we all are about it. How much we have grown and changed and it’s just really cool to see. And the Hermana Gwilliam, the president wife, literally is just the sweetest person alive and I teared up when she was kind of saying goodbye, and just giving us advice. I love how much they love us.
  • I am SO blessed. Truly. I have loved being a missionary and just helping others. Just being happy. I am reflecting a lot on my work here that I have done, and man, I have truly given my heart. I have tried so hard, and I feel at some points I should have done this better, or that, etc. but that is just the adversary. I have tried with all my heart and I feel like God, is just so proud of that. He is proud of the people who are just trying, who may struggle or who aren’t perfect, he is just SO proud of them all. SO, HE IS PROUD OF YOU, because you are trying to be your best!
  • All everyone sees are pictures that I look good in, but I will be sending the real deal pictures in this email and attached, the TRUE life of Elder Carney. I’m pretty much just awkward, so it’s the norm you know!
  • I am SO tired, but we are doing good :)
  • We had to go to the CCM (the MTC) and we ran into missionaries who are coming to our mission! It was just so weird though because they were so new and just so excited and nervous, and I was like just love it! I will never get to see you guys, but just soak it all up!! SO weird! I am OLD!
  • We did a like, mission activity today, which was dope! had a bounce house, unlimited popcorn and cotton candy, and just all hung out}! was fun, kinda saying goodbye to some missionaries who we won’t get to see again because it depends on your side of the mission and zone. But it was good!
  • We had to go to president’s house today, and we were waiting there, so I made pancakes with Hermana Gwilliams, she is just the best! And yes, they were like, American pancakes, SOO good!!
  • It just amazes me how I have done this mission. At some points, I didn’t know if I was going to make it, at some points I was so drained physically, emotionally, spiritually (yes can happen) and just plain hated it at some points! BUT, I look back at it now, and I made it! And I can’t believe I am saying it, but I am actually grateful for those trials, for those times when I had to rely upon God, because nothing else was going right! I am grateful, to have served this mission and to serve till the end!
  • LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!

Running from drunks, eating chile, and being a missionary

WELL HELLO THERE FAMILY AND FRIENDS!

WHAT a crazy week it has been that’s for sure!

So, fun story time. This drunk guy, his name is Sebastian. we were walking and talking with this Haitian dude who didn’t really speak any Spanish, and this huge guy stops us, He wanted to talk with us. this dude has two beer bottles in his hand is just plastered. SO, we ignore him because, well, this isn’t the first drunk guy we have met, Everyday there are drunks. And he got angry. my comp decided to talk with him, I was just like, this isn’t going to go well. because the dude got violent. all of a sudden, he grabbed my sweater and my comps and he pulled us close to him. He read our plaques and the name Jesus Christ and it was like he was a devil didn’t even phase him and his eyes were like black. SO, I told my comp “we are running on the count of three”. And we were OFF: this dude started booking it too° and we are laughing and running and we notice, shoot this guy is actually going pretty fast for being drunk! and we freaking hit a dead end! Thankfully we hid and contacted this house trying to get in, nobody was home. he sees us and coms to us and we just go the other way and book it! There were ghetto friends of his on the corner and they helped us out thankfully, but we were OFF.

So yeah that’s a fun story!! Never done that before! but the dude was dangerous! But we are all safe!

As for more spiritual stuff!

We found a less active who we went and stopped by, and we got in and she just broke down crying. She just expressed how much she needed help, and it was heavy. these people’s lives. I feel at times soo not prepared I am a 20-year-old kid, not a life counselor. BUT, the spirit was soo strong. And it really taught me to just listen. To cry with them. to comfort them. yes, we need to focus on the positive, but we also need to mourn with them. Understand them. That’s what Christ did with Mary and Martha when their brother Lazarus died. He just wept with them.

So, I am trying to be better at just listening and understanding people and their hearts.

SO please pray for Julieta! she is ready to make a change and she came to church!! We were so proud of he, she did it all by herself too! She is going to change!

And change is good!

I finished Jesus the Christ!!The book by James E Talmage, it’s like 800 pages of the life of Jesus Christ, I finished it for the second time. WOW. So incredible. It really puts his life in a different perspective! and I really like the invitation, to come as you are.

This church, is a church for people who need help! who are heavy with burdens, who want more hope, or who just want to be better! and you know what is great, we can come as we are! we don’t have to change ourselves to fit into the fake Mormon standard NO!

Come as you as, but also be prepared to change! and I like that. That we CAN change and that he wants us to! God can see our full potential, we can’t see like, barely any of it. BUT he can, and through change, through sacrifice, we become as it says, New creatures! and I know that’s true because I have seen it in the lives of people here!

I love this gospel. I wouldn’t have given 2 years of my life, for nothing if I didn’t know its principles are true. I love Jesus Christ and feel soo grateful for him and to be a representative of him.

Come as you are, but be prepared to change, and for the better :)

love you all!!

SOOO KOOL 2 C U
Wow, it was so nice seeing you guys!! (We got to Skype on Mother’s Day!)

So, I am on early today, we are going to the temple in the afternoon and then having a pizza buffet party, so we are writing early!!

It was great seeing everyone and just chill! So weird how much everything has changed!

I have a challenge for all of you!

Look up a talk, by David A Bednar, called Characteristics of Christ. AMAZING.

I have been really studying charity and it has been so cool! Charity is not just service, it’s part of us. It’s a characteristic that Christ had and used. The talk explains it super good and I am really going to be trying to learn more about it, and of course, ACTING.

I love this gospel because it’s all about ACTION. if we are not trying, we are not acting. It’s like a muscle. If you are not using it, you will never get stronger. It’s the same with the gospel. We need to LIVE it! We know of it, but when we live it, it’s so much different. And I think I have learned that on the mission, because we study the scriptures, we pray so much, we are building our faith every day, and yes, even while the winds and powers of Satan are against us constantly. We have that faith and have that desire.

This church is a church of action. <and what is so cool about this action, even if we just have a desire to change, is that we will see progress. We will, in the end, become a true disciple of Jesus Christ, we will be like him.

Now the road is hard, BUT, we keep trying. We keep learning. we progress! and I love that! Other churches here, and in the world, are just a giant social club or a place where they just sing and praise, which that’s ok, they are praising god! But it is so much different. They can’t progress like we can.

True Christianity is so much different. It’s about molding our lives into what the savior showed us. It’s about following him. It’s about sacrifice. But when we give something up, or try to follow him, we gain something more, something even greater.

That’s the gospel! SO, progress.

and CHANGE IS GOOD!!

Love you all so much!! email me and send me pictures!!

#PENSIONISTA
Hello everyone!

Soo wow, I am out of the ward Departamental and am now an office elder for the next change. We are in the ward called Chena in San Bernardo! I have a full day and wow, it’s a lot of work! Just a lot of little things and I don’t even know the half of it! However, I did get to take the car out for a ride haha I actually know how to drive, I thought I forgot! Chileans though are like Utah drivers, just on crack. They are a lot worse, soo bad. SO, pray that I won’t get in a wreck!

Life here is oh so good. I said goodbye to the ward which was good. I didn’t really have anyone special that made me sad to say goodbye too, but it was a sweet dispedida. The bishop was just a great guy, just a hard worker, and like 30. He and his wife don’t have kids, they haven’t been able too, but they are just such a power couple! Goals! I am sad to be going.

SO really cool news, which I am soo excited for! Hermana Sandra. She is from my first ward in Covarrubias. She was a less active, and she has just had a hard life! man Satan has just thrashed on her. But she is literally the sweetest, most caring soul I have ever met. She is my Chilean mom. Literally just an angel. She has visited me in every ward that I have been in, she has called me just to check in, she is a true disciple of Christ, of compassion, and sacrifice. SO, she has been active now and just a machine in the gospel!

AND she is going through the temple tonight to receive her endowments!!!!!!

I am soo excited to go and be with her. That family has just turned around! Her husband isn’t baptized but calls us his children, he is such a great guy! and her daughter, we baptized and her son too actually!

I am soo blessed. soo blessed to be a part of that family. I thought about it, and I just feel like we all knew each other before this life. and how I feel like I specifically was called here, to this mission, to that sector my very first sector, to be there and with them. to help them, cry with them, grow with them. And man, I cannot express the love I have for them.

So yeah, all is well here! Excited to be here, it’ll push me to grow and learn more things! We will see, its stressful too, but I’m just going to have fun, work hard, and learn learn learn! Learn all that I can while I still have this time!

I love this gospel. It is so great! it’s AMAZING how the church system works. Truly, incredible! I don’t think there is a more efficient and large organization out there, who knows their stuff, and who ultimately, tries to follow Christ. That’s it. we are all just trying to become more like God, and his son Jesus Christ.

And I love that! we are constantly trying to become better, to help others, and it’s not an obligation, it’s something that we truly want to do. I love being surrounded by dreamers, by people who love this work and are dedicating so much to it! And they do it, and we do, because its TRUE!

Love you all!!
